Orchid Valley Vets 30 Years Of Serving Your furry friends

In the heart of Cannonvale, a small veterinary clinic has blossomed into a beloved cornerstone of the community over the past 30 years. Orchid Valley Vets was founded by dynamic duo, Kath and Mark Williams in 1994 and first launched with a desire to bring compassionate pet care to the Airlie Beach area. It has since helped thousands of beloved animals receive the local care they need and deserve.  With Mark’s expertise as a qualified veterinarian and Kath’s experience as a veterinary nurse, the couple crafted a warm, welcoming haven for pets and their owners.

As the clinic celebrates its huge 30-year anniversary, this milestone stands not only as a testament to their dedication but also as a vibrant example of how businesses can grow together with their communities, all while nurturing a culture that prioritises both animal welfare and employee satisfaction.

Over the past 30 years, Orchid Valley Vets has cared for a huge variety of pets and species, from cats and dogs to guinea pigs, birds, snakes, and even a crocodile. A deep connection to the local community is at the heart of the practice, reflecting the values they share with their clients, priding themselves in their honesty in client relationships. Orchid Valley Vet customers know they can trust the team for expert advice and practical treatment options, ensuring each beloved pet is always in the best hands.

The clinic has experienced remarkable growth, expanding its team and services to deliver to the ongoing demands of population rise and now boasts an additional two veterinarians, Mark and Louise Gerrard. They are supported by Katie, the practice manager, and a dedicated team of four veterinary nurses: Hannah, Lola, Tyler, Victoria and Jodie. Together, they ensure that every pet receives the best possible care.

Orchid Valley Vets takes great pride in their vibrant culture and strives to ensure all their staff align with this friendly, positive attitude. Veterinary Nurse Jodie emphasised how Orchid Valley Vets is one of the best practices she has ever worked for:

“I have worked at multiple vets before, and this vet has one of the best cultures.”

While Orchid Valley Vets give back to the Airlie community regularly by caring for their pets, they also go above and beyond helping rescue organisations like Fauna Rescue, who care for injured birds and Eco Barge Clean Seas who looks after injured marine turtles.

What sets Orchid Valley Vets apart from other veterinary practices is not only their unique culture but also their comprehensive range of services. They offer after-hours clinics in collaboration with Proserpine Vets, with whom they have a strong partnership. Other services include grooming, hydro baths, ultrasounds, and X-rays. Additionally, the practice is excited about the possibility of opening a puppy school soon, to help train all the Whitsunday pups.

All the employees at the veterinary clinic love working with animals, and deeply care about their safety, with Jodie stating that, “there is nothing more satisfying than seeing an animal go home happy and healthy.”

The clinic always ensures they build a great relationship with their clients, and pride themselves in their honest approach towards animal care.

Kath and Mark love having their business in the Whitsundays stating that the beautiful community and stunning location make this the perfect home for them.

Despite their busy schedules, Kath and Mark always make time to follow their passion for animals beyond the veterinary clinic. From exploring nature to recently attending the Bowen Races, whenever they can be close to animals, they are content.
