Since being founded by Michael and Madison Cotter almost a decade ago, Cotter Builders has gone from strength to strength in the industry. Flashing back to 2015, Michael Cotter was pursuing his building license, while Madison Cotter had just obtained her Bachelor of Architectural Design and Building Design License. Their paths crossed, and their shared vision had transformed into the thriving business that is Cotter Builders.
Cotter Builders, a family-run and orientated business, whose inspiration is led by the owner’s two small boys, Hayes and Spencer, specialises in high-end custom new homes and renovations in the Mackay and Whitsunday region. Within the team, they have an in-house building designer, an interiors team alongside their construction team, which is something co-owner Madison Cotter says sets them apart from the rest.

Owners Madison and Michael are dedicated to supporting the Mackay community by offering school-based work experience, apprenticeships, flexible family-friendly schedules for their staff, and actively participating in local events. Additionally, Madison serves as a mentor for the Master Builders Women in Building initiative. Cotter Builders prioritise sourcing materials locally, partnering with businesses like Porters Mackay to strengthen the community further.
“We like giving back to the community and supporting other local businesses,” Madison explained.
