At just 23, Kelisha Day is proving that age and gender are no barriers to success in the high-stakes world of commercial real estate. As a Sales and Leasing Executive with Explore Property Commercial, she’s not just finding the perfect spaces for businesses—she’s carving out her own place in an industry traditionally dominated by men.
Kelisha’s story is one of grit, persistence, and a genuine love for helping people. Her journey began in 2019, not with a glamorous job offer, but as a determined young woman handing in her resume—and then following up until she got her foot in the door. From her first role as a personal assistant to director Jordan Miller, she soaked up every aspect of the business, moving to Brisbane to manage a property portfolio before returning to Mackay to take on sales and leasing. Since then, it’s been non-stop growth, both for Kelisha and the clients who trust her expertise.
“In commercial real estate, I’m here to make a difference,” Kelisha says.
“Yes, it’s a male-dominated industry, and that comes with its challenges. But I love proving myself, getting deals done, and earning that repeat business.”
Kelisha’s approach sets her apart. In an industry where transactions can feel impersonal, she makes it her mission to guide clients through the entire journey.
“It’s not just about a contract on paper—it’s about building relationships, ensuring clients understand the process, and helping businesses find the perfect space to thrive.”
Her expertise is backed by an impressive track record of successful deals. One standout achievement was her involvement in the sale of 135-137 Nebo Road. When the property first hit the market, it was only 60 per cent occupied. Determined to add value, Kelisha took the lead in sourcing tenants, crafting detailed layout plans to match their needs, and working closely with builders to bring the fit-outs to life. Her hands-on approach resulted in full occupancy and a 15 per cent uplift on the final sale price.
Beyond sales, Kelisha has been instrumental in securing some of the largest commercial leasing deals in Mackay’s CBD in recent years. Many of these spaces started as cold shells, but with her strategic planning, she transformed them into high-quality tenancies with competitive rental rates—delivering exceptional outcomes for both landlords and the broader Mackay business community.
When asked who inspires her, Kelisha doesn’t cite high-profile moguls or real estate tycoons.
“My mum,” she says without hesitation.
“She’s a go-getter, she taught me that hard work brings results, and nothing comes to you by doing nothing.”
It’s a philosophy Kelisha embodies daily—pushing forward, making her mark, and proving that passion and persistence are the ultimate game-changers in business.
If the past five years are any indication, this young go-getter is only just getting started.

Favourite place in the world?
I’ve been to Canada, the UK, and Europe, but K’Gari is my happy place. The west side—Moon Point area—feels like another world. White sand, aqua water, pink-and-blue skies. My partner and I even waded waist-deep with dolphins on Christmas!
What are you reading?
I'm reading Financial Feminist by Tori Dunlop. It’s a fantastic book on saving, investing, and closing the financial gap between men and women.
