A Pooch’s Paradise With Jilly Paddon At Horseshoe Bay Cafe

Located in one of Bowen's most picturesque bays, Horseshoe Bay Cafe is a vibrant beachside café where dogs are welcome to join their owners and enjoy their time in the spacious outdoor dining area. This furry-family-member welcome was initiated by the cafe’s animal-loving owner, Jilly Paddon. The inspiration for welcoming pooches of all shapes and sizes came from a desire to make sure the whole family is included, even the furriest members of the clan.

Popular with locals and a delightful discovery for tourists, Horseshoe Bay Cafe’s pet-friendly atmosphere allows patrons to enjoy a breakfast, coffee and cake, meal or drink alongside their precious pets while marveling at the expansive views of this stunning bay.

Jilly Paddon owns Horseshoe Bay Café with her husband David and she shares her enthusiasm for having pets around the café, thanks to its lovely outdoor space.

“Finding pet-friendly businesses can be quite challenging these days. Embracing a pet-friendly policy not only attracts dog owners but also expands our customer base, creating a welcoming environment for all pet lovers.”

Jilly’s passion for animals shines through her affection for her two beloved pups, Eddie, a dachshund, and Charlie, her rescue dog. Both dogs frequently accompany her on outdoor café visits and are loyal companions at home.

Eddie and Charlie have become cherished members of the cafe community. Given the cafe’s proximity to the local caravan park, Jilly emphasises the importance of catering to pet owners. Many visitors prefer to bring their furry friends along while camping and are often hesitant to leave them behind. This commitment to inclusivity not only enhances the cafe atmosphere but also strengthens the bond between the community and its pets.

In addition to being pet-friendly, Horseshoe Bay Cafe is renowned for its delicious, fresh cuisine crafted by the cafe’s skilled chef, including their ever-popular ‘Parmy, Pasta and Pizza Nights,’ which run on Tuesdays from 5-9:30pm with adults dining for just $20 and kids for $10.

The cafe also hosts live music nights, every weekend and Sunday afternoon, making it a vibrant gathering spot for the community, where you can relax and soak in the views on the beach in the tropical surroundings with a cocktail in hand.

Horseshoe Bay’s stunning location and atmosphere has even encouraged visits from special guests in the past, including the likes of INXS’ frontman Jon Stevens.

Jilly and David operated a cafe in Airlie Beach for 8 years before relocating to Bowen, where they successfully run Horseshoe Bay Cafe for the past 5 years. Jilly expressed her love for Bowen, highlighting its stunning beauty and laid-back atmosphere, she also emphasized the amazing friendships she's formed there.

Horseshoe Bay Cafe welcomes visitors seven days a week, inviting everyone—pets included—to come in, relax, and enjoy a delightful culinary experience. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal or a light snack, Horseshoe Bay Cafe’s menu is designed to satisfy every palate.
